Lotteries:
Playing
the lottery can be fun and exciting. Winning can
be real exciting.
That said, Most lotteries are stacked against
winners. The more numbers the bigger the odds
against any individual number winning. In other
words if the numbers are 1-30 there's a higher
likelyhood for one number to come up than if
there's 1-56.
Don't play the lottery out of desparation either.
You have very little chance of winning. Even
winning a free ticket or breaking even is very
unlikely.
Don't play thinking the profits help the school
system or reduce taxes. They don't. The
legislators and beaurocrats can always find more
ways to spend dollars.
Wanna help the school system? Join the PTA. Wanna
help kids? Be a scoutmaster or volunteer to help
with a sports program. Or just go watch the kids
skateboard at their hangout.
Wanna help your state? Pay your taxes and be a
good citizen. Be a good neighbor, too. Pickup
some trash. No not the roadside trash. People
volunteer for that and it's great but... Just
pick up some trash in a parking lot or on the
side walk somewhere while going about your
business.
So can I play? Sure, if you want to play for fun.
Just a couple dollars though. Two or three. You
never know. You might win. |
