| Most everybody wants a nice car, suv,
or a pickup truck. Many of us
already own one or more.
So what's the big deal? A motor
vehicle gives you a freedom of mobility to enjoy
yourself, work further from home, take advantage
of sales and opportunities further afield, visit
family and friends who live away from you, and
opens up a bigger area for exploration and
recreation.
Atleast until they breakdown and they
will. A new car helps somewhat but eventually a
new car becomes a old car. A old car becomes a
jalopy and sooner than later that jalopy becomes
a junker.
But some people seem to be able to
take a junker from years past and turn it back
into a quasi new car. How do they do that?
Simple. They take the junker and start with the
most glaring problems fix it up until it becomes
a nice machine again.
So here's a tip I heard years ago from
the head of a large financial ministry,
"The
cheapest car you'll ever own is the one you're
driving now".
How's that? The car or truck you now
have is actually the least expensive one you'll
ever drive from here on out.
Think about it. Wash it. Give it a
good servicing. Take a little better care of it.
Decide to make it last. Get it back into reliable
shape. Batteries, tires, brakes, steering.
Suspension. Engine and transmission. Body and
paint. Interior! I'll expand on this later.
